Star-Studded Cast! 'Fonda' Adds A'zion, Mitchell to Triet's Thriller

Acclaimed director Justine Triet, fresh off her Oscar win for 'Anatomy of a Fall,' is venturing into her first full English-language feature, titled 'Fonda.' This psychological thriller already boasted a promising cast, and now it's adding even more star power. Produced by Studiocanal and MK2, the film promises to be an intense journey into the limits of the human mind.

The 'Fonda' project was initially announced prior to the Berlin Film Festival, with Mia Goth ('Frankenstein'), Andrew Scott ('All of Us Strangers'), Frank Dillane ('Urchin'), and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett ('Candyman') confirmed to star. Additionally, Allison Janney ('The West Wing,' 'I, Tonya') was in talks to join the cast.

Allison Janney has officially joined the cast of 'Fonda,' further solidifying the impressive ensemble. Joining her are Odessa A’zion, known for 'Marty Supreme,' Ewan Mitchell ('House of the Dragon,' 'Wuthering Heights'), three-time Emmy winner Cherry Jones ('24,' 'The Handmaid’s Tale'), and renowned British actor Benedict Wong ('Weapons,' 'Doctor Strange'). Filming is scheduled to take place between April and June.

The plot of 'Fonda' is described as a psychological thriller set in a seemingly idyllic environment, which will immerse the audience in an exploration of the limits of a mind on the brink, where grief and obsession take control.

'Fonda' represents a new collaboration between writer-director Justine Triet and her 'Anatomy of a Fall' producers, Marie-Ange Luciani (Les Films de Pierre) and David Thion (Les Films Pelléas), as well as sales agency MK2 Films. Belgian company Les Films du Fleuve ('Rosetta'), owned by Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne, is also participating in the film's co-production. Furthermore, British production companies House Productions ('Conclave,' 'The Zone of Interest') and BBC Film have joined the project as co-producers.

MK2 Films ('Sentimental Value') will handle international sales, in addition to financing and co-producing the film, along with Anna Marsh, Francois Mergier, and Assia Barge from Studiocanal. Nathanaël Karmitz, Elisha Karmitz, and Fionnuala Jamison are also credited as producers. Studiocanal will distribute 'Fonda' in its territories, including France, Germany, Italy, Benelux, Poland, Australia, and New Zealand.

The financing of 'Fonda' also includes the participation of IPR.VC, which maintains a multi-year financing agreement with MK2 Films. The film's casting has been supervised by Cynthia Arra ('Anatomy of a Fall') and Kharmel Cochrane ('Saltburn'), ensuring a top-tier cast for this highly anticipated psychological thriller.

With a solid production team and a stellar cast, 'Fonda' promises to be one of the most talked-about films of the year. The combination of Justine Triet's talent with an intriguing psychological thriller generates high expectations among audiences and critics alike.
