Junta leader Abdourahamane Tiani stated last week that the security situation had been stabilized, despite the attacks suffered by the country. However, violence persists, and in southeastern Niger, the country also faces attacks from Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).
In response to the insecurity, numerous self-defense militias have been formed in the villages to combat the armed groups, although their equipment is limited.
