Amazon's 'Masters of the Universe' Trailer Reveals Jared Leto as Skeletor

The long-awaited trailer for the live-action adaptation of 'Masters of the Universe' has been revealed by Amazon MGM and Mattel Studios.

The film, based on the iconic 80s toy line and animated series, promises to revive the epic battle between good and evil on Eternia. The production has been in development since 2007, with multiple screenwriters and directors involved over the years.

Jared Leto takes on the role of the fearsome Skeletor, the main antagonist of the story.

The trailer shows Leto in his characterization of the villain, promising a faithful interpretation of the original character. The film is directed by Travis Knight and stars Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam/He-Man, Camila Mendes as Teela, and Idris Elba as Duncan/Man-At-Arms.

The story centers on Prince Adam, who, after being separated from his home for 15 years, is guided by the Sword of Power back to Eternia.

Upon arrival, he discovers that his kingdom is under Skeletor's yoke. To save his family and his world, Adam must join forces with his allies and embrace his destiny as He-Man, the most powerful man in the universe.

In addition to Leto, Galitzine, Mendes, and Elba, the film features Alison Brie, James Purefoy, Morena Baccarin, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, and Charlotte Riley.

Kristen Wiig will lend her voice to the character of Roboto. The film has gone through several development stages, with multiple screenwriters contributing to the project.

The film, finally approved, has a story by Aaron and Adam Nee, Alex Litvak and Michael Finch, and a screenplay by Chris Butler, Aaron and Adam Nee, and Dave Callaham.

Fans will be able to enjoy 'Masters of the Universe' in theaters starting June 5.
