Shocking! Netflix's 'Detective Hole' Promises to Astound Audiences With a First Episode Death That Will 'Blow Minds'
Working Title, probably best known for rom-coms like 'Bridget Jones' and 'Notting Hill', presents its new project: 'Jo Nesbø's Detective Hole'. This series, based on Jo Nesbø's crime novel series about the detective Harry Hole, promises to surprise audiences with a dark plot full of unexpected twists. The nine-episode series, adapted by Nesbø himself, is a Norwegian drama in the local language that promises to be shocking and exciting.

The series promises to swap big knickers and chardonnay for semi-automatic weapons and increasingly wild screen deaths. The series is based on Nesbø's crime novel series about an obsessive but flawed detective named Harry Hole (pronounced Hoo-ley), with Nesbø adapting the books himself.
The series follows Harry Hole (played by Tobias Santelmann) and his team as they try to track down a serial killer stalking the streets of Oslo, while dodging corrupt officers within their own force. Eric Fellner, co-chair of Working Title, commented in an interview with Variety that the series features 'some pretty shocking stuff'.

The story delves into Nesbø's world, a 'pretty tough' world with dark influences. The characters have genuine human flaws that are magnified, making the series exciting. The first episode is dark, and according to Fellner, the series may become more shocking, similar to the violence in Tarantino films.
Amelia Granger, head of film and television at Working Title, was the one who proposed adapting Nesbø's books approximately 10 years ago. Initially, Nesbø was more interested in a film, but Working Title acquired the rights and the project materialized after a decade.

Working Title learned from its experience adapting Nesbø's 'The Snowman' that to be successful, the direct involvement of Jo Nesbø was needed. The series is based on the fifth book in Nesbø's 'Detective Hole' series. Nesbø chose this story to start with, taking elements from other books, with the possibility of future series if the public accepts it.
Initially, filming the series in English, set in the United States, was considered, but it was decided to set it in Norway with the English language. Finally, Netflix suggested filming in Norwegian to be culturally specific. Working Title treated the series as a film, getting involved in all creative aspects, relying on the accuracy of the translation thanks to Nesbø's participation.

Directors Øystein Karlsen and Anna Zackrisson were key to achieving a 'cool' and culturally specific look, seeking a global reach. Although the budget was not revealed, it was highlighted that the series looks 'high-end' for a Norwegian production.
The series includes impressive action scenes, such as a real helicopter, car chases, and a spectacular crash. The production company strived to make each scene as big and engaging as possible, knowing that Netflix values drama in the first five minutes.

The series will include a shocking death in the first episode, starring a major Norwegian actress, that will 'blow minds' of viewers. Nick Cave and Warren Ellis are in charge of the soundtrack, which adds additional artistic value to the series. Working Title has several projects underway, including films and musical theater.
