Shakira Breaks Records in Madrid! Adds 2 More Shows, Extends Residency to 11 Epic Dates
Following the overwhelming success of ticket sales, Shakira has extended her European residency in Madrid with two additional concerts, scheduled for October 10th and 11th. These new dates are in addition to those already announced for September 18th, 19th, 20th, 25th, 26th, and 27th, and October 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, bringing the total number of nights in the Spanish capital to eleven. Organizers confirmed that ticket sales exceeded 450,000 in just a few hours, demonstrating the high anticipation for the event. Shakira shared an image of the “Shakira Stadium” on social media, expressing her excitement for the event. The temporary venue, located in the Villaverde district, will have a capacity for over 50,000 attendees per night.

The extension of dates comes after the announcement of three new concerts on March 25th, two days after doubling the initial dates. Ticket sales will be managed in time slots to facilitate access for fans. Tickets for the shows from September 25th to 27th were available at 10:00 a.m., those for October 2nd to 4th at 10:30 a.m., and those for September 18th to 20th at 12:00 p.m.. This scheme applied to both the Live Nation presale and the general sale, which began on March 27th.
The 'Shakira Stadium', designed under the concept 'Es Latina', promises an experience that goes beyond music, including recreation areas, art, gastronomy, and other cultural experiences. Architect Agustín Pérez Torres, responsible for the design, highlighted that the venue is more than a stadium; it is a city. The assembly, which will be completed in a matter of weeks, will include the construction of outdoor spaces and routes for the public. The Macondo Park, a 15-hectare space, will be active before, during, and after each concert, offering live music, art, gastronomy, and other cultural activities. Within this park, Macondito will be integrated, an area designed for children, conceived together with Shakira's children, Milan and Sasha.

The residency in Madrid seeks to be a meeting point for artists and creators from Latin America and Europe, with a program that will combine music, cinema, fashion, and contemporary art. The complete program will be announced in July, and Shakira plans to invite friends and collaborators, with surprises throughout the eleven nights. Part of these participations will take place on a second stage within the venue, which will also give space to new talents.
Pino Sagliocco, president of Live Nation Spain, described the Shakira project in Madrid as one of the most significant projects he has worked on, highlighting the importance of showcasing Latin culture to the world. The residency is part of the final stretch of 'Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour', which became the highest-grossing tour by a Hispanic artist, with $421.6 million in revenue and 3.3 million tickets sold in 86 shows reported to Billboard Boxscore. The success was reflected in Mexico City, where Shakira sold over 800,000 tickets in 13 sold-out concerts, culminating in a free concert at the Zócalo for 400,000 people on March 1st.

Before arriving in Spain, Shakira will perform on May 2nd at Copacabana beach in Brazil, in another massive outdoor concert. Presales for the new dates began on March 24th for those registered on her official website, followed by different phases on the 25th and 26th, while the general sale opened on March 27th.
