Disney+ Strikes Deal with RTVE: A Culinary and Content Revolution for Spanish Viewers
The agreement between Disney+ and RTVE marks a milestone in the distribution of television content in Spain.

This strategic pact will allow Disney+ subscribers to access a selection of RTVE's most popular shows, including the iconic culinary competition 'MasterChef'. The initiative seeks to expand Disney+'s entertainment offerings and broaden RTVE's reach by connecting with younger audiences throughout Spain. The agreement came into effect on March 31, marking a significant step in the strategy of both companies in the streaming market.
Among the RTVE titles that will be integrated into the Disney+ catalog is 'MasterChef', produced by RTVE in collaboration with Shine Iberia, part of the Banijay group.

Disney+ will premiere the 13 episodes of the hit show's Season 14, as well as the 12 episodes of Season 11 of 'MasterChef Celebrity'. These episodes will be available on Disney+ after their broadcast on La 1, the main channel of TVE, RTVE's public television division. This agreement represents the first time in Europe that a state broadcaster has agreed to make its shows available on Disney+ the day after their linear broadcast.
The collaboration between Disney+ and RTVE also extends to scripted content, with the series 'Rojo Sobre Blanco', produced by Good Mood, a Mediawan subsidiary.

The series will premiere on TVE and later on Disney+. More titles will be announced at a later date, demonstrating the ambition of both parties to offer a wide range of high-quality content. RTVE joins the list of European broadcasters with whom Disney+ collaborates closely, reinforcing the commitment of both companies to the promotion of local storytelling.
Karl Holmes, Disney+’s general manager for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, highlighted the importance of this alliance.

Holmes stated that they are delighted to bring some of RTVE’s most iconic new shows to Disney+ customers, enriching the service and giving greater visibility to Spanish creative talent. The collaboration reflects Disney+'s commitment to working closely with Europe's leading broadcasters, bringing their high-quality local storytelling to younger and new audiences. The agreement also reinforces Disney+'s commitment to Spanish audiovisual production and talent.
The agreement with RTVE strengthens Disney+'s strategy in Spain, where it already has a large-scale content-sharing agreement with Atresmedia, which provides more than 300 hours of premium Spanish programming.

For RTVE, the pact also reflects efforts to maximize the visibility of its content through strategic collaborations with global platforms. Both companies seek to explore new synergies that contribute to the growth and strengthening of their editorial and audiovisual strategies. The agreement builds on a growing portfolio of collaborations between Disney+ and leading European broadcasters, expanding Disney+'s presence in the Spanish market.
