In an episode already available on ITVX, Tracy Shankley, played by Amy Walsh, has decided to leave the village of Emmerdale with her daughter Frankie. This decision was made to facilitate Amy's maternity leave. Tracy kept her decision secret for a while, even from Vanessa Woodfield, but eventually, Vanessa understood Tracy's reasons. The resident has been adjusting to being a single mother for the past few years.

In 2024, Tracy believed that Frankie's father, Nate Robinson, wanted nothing to do with his family in the village. Months later, she found out that Nate never made it to his new job in Shetland and was murdered by John Sugden. Tracy received a job offer from Nate's mother, Cara, which convinced her that it was the perfect time for a fresh start.

Tracy's departure evokes bad memories for her, so she decides to take a new direction. In the episode, Tracy packs her last belongings, ready to leave. However, the absence of Cain Dingle, played by Jeff Hordley, to say goodbye unsettles her. The day before, Tracy asked Cain to visit her before she left, but he was very busy with a herd of cows, with no explanation as to why.

While Tracy waited, she was unaware that Cain and the Dingles were dealing with the fact that Joe Tate had knocked down Holly Barton's memorial on Butler's Farm.

Despite their differences, the final hug and farewell between Tracy and Cain were very emotional. Cain tried to appear strong in front of Tracy and little Frankie, but struggled to hide his tears at the departure of another member of his family. Tracy told Billy Fletcher to take them to Wishing Well. The possibility of a future return for Tracy is open, perhaps when the village does not constantly remind her of everyone she has lost.

Amy Walsh and her partner, Toby-Alexander Smith, announced the arrival of their second daughter earlier this week. The soap stars, who met while in the audience of a Strictly Come Dancing episode, already have a daughter named Bonnie.
