This achievement marks the biggest-ever launch for a series created by Taylor Sheridan, the acclaimed producer behind hits like 'Yellowstone', 'Mayor of Kingstown', and 'Tulsa King'. According to Paramount, 'The Madison' also achieved Sheridan’s most popular series launch among women ages 35 and older. Data from Luminate shows that 'The Madison' was the No. 5 most-watched streaming original series during the week of March 13-19 in order of total viewing minutes; however, it came out on top in views, by dividing total viewing minutes by runtime.
The series follows the Clyburns, a family from New York City, as they grapple with grief and move to the Madison River valley of central Montana in the aftermath of a family tragedy. Michelle Pfeiffer leads the cast as Stacy Clyburn opposite Kurt Russell as her husband Preston Clyburn; Beau Garrett, Elle Chapman, Patrick J. Adams, Amiah Miller, Alaina Pollack, Ben Schnetzer, Kevin Zegers, Rebecca Spence, Danielle Vasinova, Matthew Fox, and Will Arnett also star.
Sheridan executive produces alongside David C. Glasser, John Linson, Art Linson, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, director Christina Alexandra Voros, Michael Friedman, Pfeiffer, Russell, and Keith Cox. The series is produced by Paramount Television Studios, 101 Studios, and Bosque Ranch Productions. 'The Madison' has already been renewed for a second season, demonstrating its success and audience reception.
Pfeiffer, Russell, and Voros spoke to Variety about what fans can expect in Season 2, with Pfeiffer saying, “It’s after the initial stage of raw grief passes, and some time has gone by. It’s the messy and profound rebuilding of everything that you knew after everything that you knew has fallen apart and what that looks like.”
The plot of 'The Madison' centers on the Clyburn family and their grieving process after a tragedy, exploring universal themes such as loss, adaptation, and the search for a new beginning. The series promises to be a deep exploration of human emotions and resilience. The choice of the Madison River valley as a setting adds an impressive visual dimension and an evocative backdrop to the story.
The combination of Sheridan's talent, a stellar cast, and a moving plot has resulted in a resounding success for Paramount+.
