AMC Cancels 'Talamasca: The Secret Order' After One Season
'Talamasca: The Secret Order' has been canceled by AMC after just one season, according to an exclusive announcement by Variety. An AMC spokesperson stated: "While we are not proceeding with another season of 'Talamasca: The Secret Order,' we are proud of the series and grateful for the efforts of everyone involved." This decision represents the first cancellation within the Anne Rice Immortal Universe by AMC. The premium cabler acquired the rights to Rice's works in 2020; since then, they have launched the series "Interview with the Vampire" and "Mayfair Witches," in addition to "Talamasca."

The series, based on "The Vampire Chronicles" and "The Lives of the Mayfair Witches," starred Nicholas Denton, along with Elizabeth McGovern, William Fichtner, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, and Celine Buckens. Jason Schwartzman was a guest actor, and both Eric Bogosian and Justin Kirk reprised their roles from "Interview with the Vampire" as guest stars. The first season of six episodes aired starting in October 2025, with the series finale broadcast in late November.
The series, with its plot centered on the supernatural world, followed Guy Anatole (Denton), who, "on the cusp of graduating law school, is approached by a representative of the Talamasca, a secretive agency that monitors and protects us from the supernatural world." When Guy learns that the Talamasca has been tracking him since his childhood, he falls headlong into a world of secret agents and immortal beings who, up to now, have maintained a fragile balance with the mortal world.

John Lee Hancock developed the series and served as executive producer and co-showrunner alongside Mark Lafferty. Mark Johnson, who oversees the Immortal Universe for AMC, was also an executive producer, as were Tom Williams, Christopher Rice, and the late Anne Rice. Hancock also directed the series.
Despite the cancellation, AMC has expressed its intention to integrate elements and characters from 'Talamasca' into future projects within the Anne Rice universe. The AMC spokesperson added: "The Talamasca has a storied place within the Anne Rice Immortal Universe, and we expect to see at least some of these characters, and the organization itself, in future expressions of the franchise."

Meanwhile, "Interview with the Vampire," now called "The Vampire Lestat," will return for a third season on June 7, while "Mayfair Witches" will be back with its third season in early 2027, showcasing AMC's continuity with the Rice universe.
