On a hot July day, just outside of St. Louis, Missouri, Daryl, a bloodhound from the Farmington Correctional Center's K-9 unit, faced a crucial mission: to find Cody Trenkle Jr., a 13-year-old teenager who had been missing for over three days. Cody's mother, Stephanie, and stepfather, Jared Neely, were desperate for his whereabouts. Authorities believed Cody might be in a deep, wooded ravine, but time was running out.
Stephanie provided one of her son's most worn sneakers, and Lt. Joe Gillam, the leader of the K-9 unit, allowed Daryl to smell it. Then, he gave the command: 'Find!'. Daryl took off in search with determination.
