Rio Ferdinand, a renowned former footballer and Manchester United legend, has expressed his reservations about Roberto De Zerbi potentially taking over as manager at Tottenham. Ferdinand, on his YouTube channel, suggested that in the current situation, he would turn down the offer due to the perceived lack of ambition at the club and their apparent unwillingness to invest in high-level players.

De Zerbi, who recently left Olympique de Marseille, is emerging as the leading candidate to succeed Igor Tudor, who was fired after only 44 days in charge. Tottenham, currently in a precarious situation, are just one point above the relegation zone in the Premier League.
Ferdinand praised De Zerbi as a great manager, highlighting his innovative approach and his ability to build teams. However, he questioned whether Tottenham is the right environment for the Italian coach to succeed. The former player argued that the club needs to demonstrate greater ambition in the transfer market to compete with the elite teams in the Premier League. The club needs to spend more on high-level players to attract the best and thus, be able to compete at the top of English football.
