David Peterson delivered a solid performance for the Mets, pitching 5.1 scoreless innings, with six hits and two walks. He managed to get out of a difficult situation with runners on second and third in the fifth inning and left the game with the score tied. Devin Williams entered in the ninth and managed to escape a dangerous situation with a double and a walk, striking out Bryan Reynolds.
Robert Jr. drove in three of the Mets' four runs in the game and finished with a hit in four at-bats, plus a walk. Luis Torrens, with only one at-bat, hit the hit that tied the game. Mark Vientos, also as a pinch hitter, advanced the ghost runner with a crucial single. The victory came thanks to the effort of the whole team, leading the Mets to a 2-0 record in the season.
