Jets Fight for Wild Card: Defying Decline in the Western Conference

Even if they manage to qualify, a matchup with the likely Presidents' Trophy winner, the Colorado Avalanche, could result in a first-round elimination, although the Jets beat the Avalanche twice in three games this month, including a 4-2 win on Saturday.

Head coach Scott Arniel emphasizes the importance of winning and maintaining focus on each game. After a recent victory and the Predators' loss, Arniel stated: “It’s just one at a time. I know you guys don’t want to hear it, but we looked at the scoreboard and we got some help around the league. That’s what we need, but you’ve got to win to gain ground. We did that. Now all of our focus zeroes in on Chicago. It can’t be one of those ones where you have a great game here and then you take a big step back.”

The Jets' determination to 'rage against the dying of the light' promises an exciting end to the season in Winnipeg. The team is back in action Tuesday evening in Chicago against the Blackhawks.
