Rui Hachimura, after the game between the Los Angeles Lakers and Washington Wizards, admitted he was surprised to see Anthony Davis on the opposing team's bench. The Japanese player, in a post-game interview, confessed that he momentarily forgot Davis' trade to the Wizards. Hachimura, who played three seasons in Washington before joining Los Angeles in 2023, faced his former team in Monday's matchup. The situation created a funny moment during the timeout, in his own words.

"It was funny because during the timeout I was looking at the bench and then I saw AD and I was shocked," Hachimura said. "I totally forgot about it, you know. So, I went to say hi to him… he just got to D.C. and you know, I was there in D.C. for three years so I have people and all that". Hachimura's reaction was captured and shared on X (formerly known as Twitter) by Daniel Starkand of Lakers Nation. The game ended with a Lakers victory with a score of 120-101. Hachimura added that he believed the situation in Washington could be beneficial for Anthony Davis as he adjusts to a new environment.

Davis' move to the Wizards came as part of a February trade involving eight players from both teams, reshaping the rosters. Hachimura, who played three seasons with Washington before joining Los Angeles in 2023, faced his former team in Monday's matchup, although Davis did not play due to a hand injury. During the game, the Lakers star posted 14 points and six rebounds, shooting 6-for-10 from the field and 1-for-3 from three-point range, along with a made free throw. His top performance helped support a balanced Lakers effort as they clinched the win.

As a result, the Los Angeles Lakers improved to 49-26 with the victory as they continue building momentum ahead of the postseason. The Lakers will now host the Cleveland Cavaliers (47-28) on Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. PT.
