Boxer Gervonta 'Tank' Davis is attempting to recover the payday he believes he lost when his fight with Jake Paul collapsed, but he is now trying to do it in court rather than in the ring. The Baltimore star has filed a countersuit seeking more than $20 million from ex-girlfriend Courtney Rossel, alleging she provoked the October 2025 incident that later derailed the lucrative Netflix-backed event. According to the countersuit filed March 23 and outlined by the Baltimore Banner, Davis claims Rossel initiated a confrontation at Tootsie’s Cabaret in Miami, where she worked as a VIP cocktail waitress, as part of a scheme designed to frame and extort him.
The lawsuit alleges Rossel was aware Davis had an upcoming bout with Paul that was expected to generate more than $20 million for the undefeated lightweight through a global Netflix broadcast deal. Davis further claims Rossel, through her legal representation, later contacted his manager Ravone Littlejohn demanding $1.1 million or she would “pursue criminal charges through law enforcement and initial civil proceedings.”
