At the 2025 Indian Wells Open, Mirra Andreeva, a young Russian tennis player, surprised the tennis world by defeating Sabalenka. Andreeva, playing in her second WTA 1000 final, managed to beat the Belarusian with a score of 2-6, 6-4, 6-3. Sabalenka, when asked about the loss, admitted it was a complicated match where she made unforced errors at crucial moments.
Sabalenka acknowledged that Andreeva played better and that she herself couldn't find her rhythm in the match. The Belarusian tennis player also noted that at the beginning of the match everything was going well, but then she made some mistakes that cost her the game.
