The Investigating Court of Tudela, Navarre, has ruled to prosecute five individuals from two families, accused of the alleged sale of a 14-year-old girl. The charges relate to "forced marriage and exploitation in mendicancy", a case that, according to court documents, developed over months with the active participation of the minor's parents and the purchasing family. The judicial resolution, issued on March 18, details the events that began in late 2024, when the parents began planning to hand over their daughter. According to testimonies, the mother mentioned the intention to sell her daughter to marry her to a Romanian Gypsy family, initially for 10,000 euros, although the price was later renegotiated.
The investigation places the crucial moment in 2025, when the sale of the minor was finalized to a marriage and their son in exchange for 5,000 euros, five bottles of whiskey, and some food. This act was not isolated but the culmination of prior agreements between the parties.
