Republican Representative Nancy Mace of South Carolina has railed against Republicans who are pushing for an escalation of the war in Iran. Mace reiterated her lack of support for boots on the ground in the conflict. Her sentiments strongly oppose Senator Lindsey Graham, who has urged former President Trump to send Marines to invade Kharg Island to topple Tehran’s regime. Mace accused Graham of being part of Washington's 'war machine', seeking to drag the United States into another conflict similar to Iraq.

Mace and Representative Anna Palina Luna have criticized Graham for supporting escalations in the war. However, Graham has stated that he prefers a diplomatic approach to achieving U.S. military objectives in Iran, arguing that war is 'literally hell'. Mace's comments come after a House Armed Services briefing, where she expressed concern over the disparity between the public and private justifications for the war.
Mace noted that the justifications presented to the American public for the war in Iran did not align with the military objectives presented to the House Armed Services Committee. This discrepancy, according to Mace, is deeply troubling. She added that the longer the war continues, the faster it will lose the support of Congress and the American people. Her statements follow weeks of Democratic scrutiny over the Trump administration’s argument that Iran posed an 'imminent threat' to the United States. Multiple lawmakers have said they haven’t seen evidence that supports the White House’s position.

Mace suggested that the conflict might be related to oil, accusing Washington's 'war machine' of sending generations of Americans into endless conflicts in the Middle East, without a clear exit strategy, to serve the interests of powerful politicians. Mace stated that they will not allow American lives to be sacrificed for the same failed foreign policies.
Mace stood firm in her opposition to sending American soldiers to Iran, criticizing the potential economic motivation behind the conflict. In a post on X, Mace stated: 'The war machine may be willing to give the lives of your sons and daughters for the price of oil, but we are not.' This statement reflects the growing concern over war strategy and the underlying interests in the conflict. The Pentagon has submitted a $200 billion supplemental funding request to support its operations in the Middle East.

Mace vowed to vote against the funding package if American soldiers are sent to Iran. Mace's stance highlights the growing division within the Republican Party over foreign policy and military intervention abroad.
