Lindsey Graham Responds to Disney World Photos Amidst Government Shutdown

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) responded to photos of him at Disney World over the weekend, in the midst of the partial government shutdown. Graham was seen at the theme park in Florida on Friday and Saturday with a bubble wand while waiting in line to get on the "Space Mountain" ride.

Images of Graham emerged after TMZ requested photos of lawmakers away from Washington during the shutdown. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which houses TSA, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), U.S. Border Patrol and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, among other agencies, has been shut down for over 45 days.

Graham stated that he was invited to a meeting in South Florida on Friday with Trump official Steve Witkoff to talk about the possibility of normalization between Saudi Arabia and Israel. He added that he went to Orlando to meet friends after the meeting. The senator later returned to South Carolina.

On Monday, the senator posted a picture of him hunting with a gun in Edgefield County, S.C., after receiving pushback for vacationing while Transportation Security Administration (TSA) staff are being asked to work without pay.

The senator's presence at Disney World during the partial government shutdown drew criticism and raised questions about the priority of government affairs. The situation of TSA employees, who were forced to work without pay, also added tension to the context.

The House and Senate are currently in a standoff over whether to fund immigration agencies as Democrats push for reforms following the deaths of two U.S. citizens at the hands of federal authorities.

Lindsey Graham's office did not immediately respond to The Hill's request for comment on the matter. The lack of an official response from the senator's office contributed to the controversy and fueled speculation about the situation.
