Musical Miracle? Fcukers Releases Debut Album After Doubting It Would Happen
Fcukers' debut album, 'Ö', released on March 27th, is a significant achievement for the New York dance-rock duo, comprised of Shanny Wise and Jackson Walker Lewis. The project arrives after a period of uncertainty about whether and when it would materialize. The unexpected success of their debut EP, 'Baggy$$', released in 2024, generated considerable pressure for an album that would live up to expectations.

The duo found themselves at a creative crossroads, grappling with the pressure of a second album, even though it would technically be their debut. The key question was how to continue with the sound established in the EP. The situation became so overwhelming that Lewis considered the possibility of not producing new music at that time. Collaboration with producer Kenneth Blume, known as Kenny Beats, proved to be the catalyst they needed to overcome this obstacle.
The intervention of Kenny Beats, a renowned Los Angeles producer, was fundamental. The initial meeting, which was supposed to be a simple stop for coffee, turned into a recording session that changed the course of the project. In two weeks, the duo, along with Blume, composed and recorded most of the album. This collaboration allowed Fcukers to focus on writing and significantly speed up the creative process. Trusting Blume's dexterity as a producer freed the duo from technical concerns, allowing them to focus on the essence of the music.

The intensive work rhythm, with 11-hour days, resulted in the creation of three songs per day during the first week. The second week was dedicated to refining and adjusting the ideas, culminating in an 11-track album. Inspired by Prince's symbol era, they decided to title the project 'Ö', considering that all possible words for album titles had already been used.
The album 'Ö' was released through Ninja Tune, a label that Lewis describes as one of the few capable of encompassing a project that is both a band and an electronic project. Before forming Fcukers, both Wise and Lewis, both 28 years old, were part of various bands in New York. Lewis also worked as a DJ in the city, while working in bars. They met through a mutual friend and discovered a shared interest in focusing their creativity on electronic music. The meeting of Wise and Lewis, who had no grand aspirations, arose from the common interest of creating music similar to what Lewis was playing.

Wise, who had no previous knowledge of house music, brought a fresh perspective to the project. Together, they fused genres such as trap, drum & bass, garage, R&B, rock and elements of Y2K era artists, such as Nelly, Lily Allen, Outkast and Dizzee Rascal. The album features additional production by Dylan Brady of 100 gecs.
Fcukers will present this hybrid sound on a 42-date tour, which will run from April 2 to September 20. The tour includes shows as headliners in North America and England, participation in festivals such as Bonnaroo and Primavera Sound in Barcelona. In addition, they will open six Rüfüs Du Sol concerts in the United States, and even a concert for Harry Styles in São Paulo. The band is excited to present music from an album they weren't sure they could create.

Wise recounts that they played three sold-out nights in London and the audience response was incredible. Lewis states that they have come further than they ever dreamed and that anything that happens from now on is a bonus. The emotional connection with the audience is one of the most rewarding aspects for the duo.
The release of 'Ö' and the upcoming tour mark a crucial moment in Fcukers' trajectory. The duo has managed to overcome creative obstacles and expectations, consolidating their place in the music scene. The combination of genres and Wise's fresh perspective, along with Lewis's experience as a DJ, have created a distinctive sound that resonates with a growing fan base. The tour will allow them to connect with their audience live and continue to build their legacy.

The story of Fcukers is an example of how perseverance and collaboration can lead to success, even when doubts and pressure seem insurmountable. Their music, a bold mix of influences, promises to captivate listeners and consolidate their position as one of the most promising bands today.
