James Blake Asks Kanye West to Remove Production Credit Due to Creative Differences

James Blake has requested that his production credit be removed from Kanye West's new album, 'Bully'. However, this request is not due to the recent controversies surrounding West, but rather to creative differences in the final version of the song 'This One Here'. Blake worked on the song, but the final result does not reflect his original contribution.

Blake confirmed his involvement in the song when Kanye West premiered an earlier version at a nightclub event in 2022. In a message shared on the social media platform Vault, Blake explained that the 'spirit' of his original contribution was not present in the final version. The musician emphasized that this decision is purely creative and is not related to any personal controversy.

According to Blake, the final version of 'This One Here' differs significantly from his original production. He explained that, although elements of his initial work are present, the essence of his production has been lost. Blake indicated that his original version was a completely different production in spirit. This situation led him to request that his name be removed from the production credits, as he does not wish to be recognized for work that does not reflect his initial creative vision.

Blake clarified that his decision is not personal and that he simply does not want to be credited on music where he cannot influence the final result.

Collaborations between Blake and West have been the subject of speculation for years, although with few concrete results. In the 2010s, both artists praised each other and there were reports of studio time, but nothing was ever released. In 2016, West was expected to appear on Blake's album, 'The Color in Anything', but his verse for the song 'Timeless' never materialized.

In 2024, Blake contributed to 'Vultures 1', the project by West and Ty Dolla $ign, producing the song 'Talking / Once Again'. The album 'Bully' was released on Friday, March 28, West's first solo album since 'Donda 2' in 2022. For his part, Blake released a new solo album, 'Trying Times'.
