Embark Studios has launched the Season 10 update for The Finals, marking version 1.0.00. This update, identified as 1.000.131 for consoles, brings a wealth of free content and new cosmetic items. The new 'Aerialist' playstyle focuses on movement manipulation and tactical strategy, ideal for players looking to surprise their opponents. It includes a new specialization called 'Shockwave', which allows players to throw explosive orbs to displace players and objects, and a semi-automatic weapon called 'Chimera-XB'.
The update includes the new 'Starlight Hollow' map, designed by ALFA ACTA's engineers, which offers an idyllic village environment with a touch of fantasy. In addition, themed decorations have been added to many arenas. The 'Reward Shop' is introduced to spend coins earned in Season 9, allowing players to customize weapons and gadgets. Quality of life improvements include updates to the match recap screen, the improved 'Ping Wheel' to facilitate team communication, and improvements in control for controller players.
Significant changes have been implemented in ranked tournaments, such as adjustments to the matchmaking algorithm to more frequently separate full groups of three and teams with solo players. A restriction is introduced for duos with a difference of more than 10,000 RS (Ranked Score), and RS calculations have been updated to reduce the penalty for first-round defeats. In addition, the voice communication system has been improved, and new customization options for controls have been added.
Balance adjustments have been made to weapons, gadgets, and specializations. Changes include modifications to the AKM, Chimera-XB, CL 40, FCAR, M134 Minigun, M26 Matter, MGL-32, Pike 556, SH1900, and SR-84, with the aim of optimizing performance and gameplay experience. In addition, specializations such as Cloaking Device, Dematerializer, Evasive Dash, Grappling Hook, Guardian Turret, and Shockwave have been adjusted. The changes in gadgets focus on adjusting cooldown times and overall effectiveness.
Improvements have been made to the social experience, including a more reliable voice chat system and new emote options in the main menu. Players can expect more fluid communication in the chat and more accurate status updates for friends and club members. The update also includes improvements in the spawn point selection in the Cashout and Point Break game modes.
