Borderlands 4 Gets Major Update! New Content, DLC, and Gameplay Tweaks
Gearbox has released a major update for Borderlands 4, version 1.5, which includes the highly anticipated first story DLC, 'Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned'. This update, identified on consoles as 'Borderlands 4 update 1.050 (complete version 1.050.000)', also introduces quality-of-life improvements, such as Shared Character Progression and an increased level cap of 60.

The content expansion focuses on a malicious cosmic entity threatening Kairos, with Ellie, Moxxi's daughter, as the protagonist. Players who purchase Story Pack 1 will gain access to a new map zone, The Whispering Glacier, featuring new missions, activities, and collectibles. In addition, dynamic events and two new boss fights have been added, along with 16 mini-bosses and new enemy types.
In addition to the paid DLC, the 1.5 update offers free content to all Borderlands 4 players. Free additions include the increase of the character level cap to 60, a change highly requested by the community. Shared character progression has also been implemented, unifying collectibles, activities, map progress, SDU tokens, Vault Powers, and vehicle skins.

In multiplayer mode, players will only see the map discovered in the areas they have explored themselves. Deleting character saves does not reset map progress, and revealed Fast Travel locations still require campaign progress to be used.
The update also includes general changes that affect the gameplay experience. Issues in boss fights, such as Bore-Tex and Chiselbella, have been resolved, and visual and collision errors in various environments have been corrected. Adjustments have also been made to the Vault Hunter characters, including improvements to the abilities of Harlowe the Gravitar, Rafa the Exo-Soldier, and Vex the Siren.

Weapons and equipment have been modified, fixing issues with the Chuck Assault Rifle, the Urchin Grenade, and the Kickballer Shotgun, among others. The update also includes improvements to the user interface and menus, as well as updates to Photo Mode, which offers new visibility options and visual effects.
The update introduces a large amount of new content, including legendary weapons such as the Barb'ara grenade and the Fearstalker sniper rifle. In addition, new classes have been added, as well as Pearlescent weapons exclusive to Story Pack 1. 28 new cosmetic items have also been added.

C4SH the Rogue, a CasinoBot with a magical deck that grants him eldritch powers, is also introduced. C4SH is playable throughout the game and offers a new perspective on the Borderlands 4 experience, emphasizing risk and unpredictability.
Gearbox continues to work on improving the stability and performance of Borderlands 4. Optimizations have been made to several HUD bars and errors that caused problems in the game have been fixed. The development team is continuously investigating and will make further improvements in the future.

For those playing on PS5, the PlayStation Store Spring Sale has Borderlands 4 at a significant discount.
