Andrea Kimi Antonelli, overcoming a challenging start at the Japanese Grand Prix, delivered a commanding victory, propelling him to the top of the Formula 1 Drivers’ Championship.
The Italian driver, starting from pole position, dropped to sixth place on the first lap, overtaken by Oscar Piastri and Charles Leclerc. However, a mid-race safety car, triggered by an accident involving Oliver Bearman, allowed Antonelli to make a strategic pit stop, securing his lead until the checkered flag.
Charles Leclerc finished third after an exciting battle with George Russell, who became the first Mercedes driver not to score a podium finish this year. Lando Norris got the better of Lewis Hamilton to take fifth place, while a disappointed Max Verstappen finished in eighth, losing out to former teammate Pierre Gasly.
