On a memorable night, Taylor Swift not only received the Artist of the Year award but also accumulated six additional awards at the 2026 iHeartRadio Music Awards, solidifying her position at the top of the music industry. The ceremony, held on Thursday, March 26th, witnessed a display of talent and recognition of the singer's prolific career. Olympic skater Alysa Liu presented Swift with five of the awards, including the most important one of the night.
Swift, visibly moved, thanked Liu and shared her love for music, highlighting the importance of nurturing a passion for art and giving oneself time to grow.
In her acceptance speech, Swift reflected on her beginnings and how music started as a hobby that evolved into her greatest passion. She recalled her childhood, when she dedicated hours to practicing and perfecting her art without the pressure of public observation. The 'Opalite' singer emphasized the need to protect the creative process, advising emerging artists to focus on their art and give themselves time to make mistakes and grow.
Swift shared that, at 12 years old, she had the luxury of spending thousands of hours working on her art, practicing, making mistakes through trial and error, and all of this was completely unobserved.
Addressing the musicians present, Swift reminded them of the importance of nurturing their passion away from constant criticism and online attention. She shared valuable advice: 'Anything you feed your mind, it will internalize. Anything you feed the Internet, it will try to destroy, and I don't want that for your dreams.' This advice resonated with many artists, highlighting the importance of authenticity and perseverance in the industry.
The singer concluded her speech with advice and sincere wishes for her colleagues.
In addition to the Artist of the Year award, Swift was also honored with the Best Pop Album award for 'The Life of a Showgirl'. With seven total wins during this year's ceremony, Swift, who already held the record for the most awards in the history of the iHeartRadio Music Awards, increased her total to 41 awards. This achievement not only celebrates her current success but also solidifies her legacy as one of the most influential artists in music history.
