Sara Cox to Replace Scott Mills in BBC's Eurovision Coverage

The BBC has replaced Scott Mills with Sara Cox as one of its commentators for the Eurovision Song Contest.

The news of Mills' dismissal, 53, was announced on Monday, following allegations over his 'personal conduct', allegedly relating to a 'historic relationship dating back more than 10 years'. The BBC stated that Mills is no longer contracted to work with the broadcaster.

Later, it was reported that Mills was let go after an alleged complaint related to a historic police investigation into 'serious sexual offenses against a minor under 16'.

Mills, known for his work on BBC Radio 2, including Eurovision coverage since 2011, will no longer be involved in the contest, which will be held in Vienna in May.

Sara Cox, who has presented Radio 2's teatime show for the past seven years, will take over the role, according to reports. The Sun reported: 'Sara and Rylan have now been formally put forward to cover the event following Scott’s departure'.

Mills, in addition to commenting on the semi-finals on BBC One, also covered the final live on Radio 2 and broadcast his show from the hosting city for the week leading up to the event.

Last year, Mills described Eurovision as a 'melting pot' and stated that the event is like our 'World Cup'.

Last month, Mills was chosen to announce the UK entry of Look Mum No Computer live on his Radio 2 breakfast show.

While this will mark the first time Cox will commentate the contest live on TV, last year she commented on the semi-finals live on Radio 2. The semi-finals of the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Vienna, Austria, on May 12 and 14, with the final to be held on May 16.
