The inclusion of Israel in this year's contest has generated controversy, leading several countries, such as Slovenia, Iceland, Ireland, Spain, and the Netherlands, to boycott the event due to the war in Gaza. Russia has also been excluded from the contest since 2002 because of its war in Ukraine.
