From 'The Cosby Show' to 'The Pitt': Geoffrey Owens Makes a Surprising TV Comeback!

Variety exclusively announced that Geoffrey Owens will join the cast of 'The Pitt.' Owens will play Dr. Clay Barrett, a cardio-thoracic surgeon, in the 13th episode of Season 2, airing April 2. The HBO hit series has already featured a slew of guest stars this season. This news marks a significant return for Owens, who is remembered for his iconic role in 'The Cosby Show'.

In addition to Owens, Mary McCormack and Sara Wyle will also participate in episode 13 of the second season. McCormack will reunite with her 'ER' co-star Noah Wyle, playing neurosurgeon Dr. Linda Conley. Sara Wyle, Noah's wife, will play ER patient Ashley Davis. The inclusion of these actresses promises to add more excitement to the plot of 'The Pitt'.

Owens is best known for his role as Elvin Tibideaux on 'The Cosby Show,' appearing in 128 episodes. In 2018, photos of him working at Trader Joe's went viral. According to Owens, he quit Trader Joe's before the news broke, due to the discomfort of being photographed at work. 'It was strange because someone had been in the store taking pictures... And I was like, well, now that this is breaking, I’m not going to feel comfortable working in this store, wondering who’s around with a camera. It’s gonna be just too weird. I’m a very private person,' Owens said.

After the photos of Owens surfaced, he received an offer from Tyler Perry to appear in the OWN drama 'The Haves and Have Nots.' Nicki Minaj also gifted him $25,000, which he donated to charity.
