Green Vengeance: Clean Energy Industry Launches Counterattack
During former President Donald Trump's second term, the renewable energy sector suffered significant setbacks. The administration cut over $600 billion in tax credits and incentives for electric vehicles, solar and wind projects. At the same time, billions of dollars in additional tax breaks were granted to the oil and gas industry. This situation created an unfavorable environment for the development and expansion of clean energy in the United States.

A clear example of this policy was the decision to pay almost $1 billion to a French energy company to cancel plans for a wind farm off the east coast. This measure, along with geopolitical tensions in the Gulf, showed a marked contrast between support for fossil fuels and the brake on renewable energies.
Faced with this situation, clean energy advocates have launched a campaign of vengeance, targeting political candidates who oppose wind and solar energy. Chris Larsen, co-founder of the Ripple cryptocurrency platform, along with other investors, have taken action against Representative Chip Roy (R-TX), who is seeking to become Attorney General of Texas. Hundreds of thousands of dollars have already been spent on television ads criticizing Roy, with the intention of investing an additional half a million dollars in the runoff election against his main rival, Mayes Middleton.

Michael Brune, CEO of the Clean Break Fund, backed by Larsen, stated that politicians need to fear the consequences of voting against the clean energy industry. Roy responded that he would retaliate against his political opponents. This reaction shows the intensity of the conflict and the determination of both sides.
Beyond the Clean Break Fund, several solar companies are forming coalitions to defend renewable energy. They have commissioned a survey that revealed that 75% of Trump voters support the expansion of investment in solar energy. The clean energy industry's strategy resembles that of the oil and gas industry, which has been very effective in lobbying, policy and supporting its allies, as well as punishing its opponents. Chris Larsen emphasized the need to learn from the effectiveness of the fossil fuel industry in these areas.

This imitation of strategies seeks to counteract the influence of fossil fuels and promote a change in energy policy.
Meanwhile, China continues to lead solar energy production, with an annual production of one terawatt of solar panels. In addition, China is testing giant airborne turbines, solidifying its position as a wind energy superpower. These technological advances and large-scale production capacity demonstrate China's commitment to renewable energy and its leadership in the global energy transition.

The difference in approach between the United States and China highlights the importance of investment and political support in the development of clean energy.
